If you have read academic job listings before, you might have seen the vague request for "evidence of teaching effectiveness" and wondered how to address it in your application materials. This workshop shows you how to create an online portfolio that presents your teaching biography as a well-curated, clickable experience, rather than inundate search committees with pages upon pages of materials. This type of portfolio puts you in control of your online presence and can be utilized successfully at different stages of the application process to prove that you are more than "just a top-notch researcher" and understand the demands of the profession.

The workshop will address your questions about:

  • what to include based on your individual teaching history,
  • how to plan for and create additional materials,
  • how to present yourself online effectively,
  • what to do about privacy concerns, and
  • how to get started with the technology.

The example portfolio with which we will be working has been successful with different types of institutions on the academic job market in 2014/15.
